DreamHost Webhost Review - The Naked Truth!
When I first started building websites I had to learn about hosting. I tried not to for months but found it almost impossible to function without some very important basics of webhosting. It is actually embarrassing but the person who I hired to build my first website had to teach me how to set up hosting and change the DNS settings of my domain in order to get the site to work.
I bought some shared hosting and thought I had it all covered. I bought it from one of the biggest outfits on the internet. The problem was that this hosting had very little control over the databases, the control panel sucked, the price was too high and the customer service was non-existent. By this time I had about 12 solid websites that were operating and generating traffic.
Soon after I bought my own dedicated server in order to have more control and by the works of miracles got it running with all of my websites functioning properly on it. This was great for about two years or until all of my software was out of date. As soon as I needed upgrades to my operating system and webserver I had to start paying an expert hourly to deal with the headaches. Then I had troubles backing them up and transferring them back. I had to lease a temporary server while mine was being worked on. Now mind you even though my sites were making good money I did not have anything that was generating 50,000 hits per day. I realized that all I needed was shared hosting that took care of all the day-to-day maintenance and still allowed me full MySQL/database control, customer support 30 seconds away. That is when I found DreamHost. They were like a breath of fresh air. All my hosting problems went away. DreamHost gave me full control of my hosting and allowed me unlimited domains, static IPs, unlimited databases and some funny jokes along the way. (they are quite humurous in the content of their site)
For my needs out the door it was only costing me $11 per month. If you are a regular person with html websites then you can get everything you need for only $5.95 per month. Let me just tell you that when I had a dedicated server I was paying over $50 per month and that was a screaming deal. Most people didn't believe me when I told them what I was paying.
The bottom line is that unless you are hosting Wikipedia.com, you don't need a dedicated server. You just need something simple, low maintenance, good customer support and a ton of flexibility for as cheap as possible. That is why I stuck with DreamHost. Check it out. I gaurantee that it will make your hosting headaches go away.
For people who want even more hosting extras without paying for them, I was able to get some killer promo codes. Try these to get some free custom features or to just save some money when you sign up. I had to pay full price and some extra when I signed up for these.
