When I first started building websites I had to learn about hosting. I tried not to for months but found it almost impossible to function without some very important basics of webhosting. The bottom line is that unless you are hosting Wikipedia.com, you don't need a dedicated server. You just need something simple, low maintenance, good customer support and a ton of flexibility for as cheap as possible. That is why I stuck with DreamHost. Check it out.
