Quest Bar Review - Does this protien barlive up to the hype?
As a long distance triathlete, I am looking for fuel not only during a race but during training and recovery also. I look for 4 things in a fuel that makes a complete source of nutrition.
FLAVOR
This is one of the most important protien bar factors. If it does not taste good then you will have a hard time getting it down during training and racing when your mouth is dryer than usual. The Quest Bar actually tastes good enough to get your mouth watering so that you can eat it at any time. When I say good, I don't mean that it is a popsicle, but the flavor is smooth and nutrient rich.
CARBOHYDRATES
Carbs are what give you sustained energy but too many can make you feel slugish. Their moderate carbohydrate level allows you to get sustained energy while you don't overload and consume too many. Carbs are good and necessary as long as they are controlled. The Quest Bar does that.
CALORIES
Calories are necessary in any sport and what you want is an easy to manage quantity in a form that is easy to absorb. The calories in a Quest Bar are easy to monitor and are in a portion that is easy to manage. The calories provided are of a blend that is more readily absorbed into your system so that they benefit you sooner than later. This helps in recovery, racing and training.
PROTEIN
Protein is necessary for rebuilding any muscles that were damaged during training and racing. The trick is getting enough protein to make a difference while not turning your protein bar into a block of chalk. Each Quest Bar has 20 grams of protein. Not too shabby.
For some reason I like buying all of my triathlon racing and training gear and fuel online. Luckily for me Quest Bars are only available online. If you would like to try an order please click the link above that will take you directly to a catalog page on the Quest Bar Website.
Good Luck Training.
